Preplanning surveys underway
TasPorts have been undertaking a number of preplanning surveys including geotechnical, survey and environmental baseline surveys. These are just the start of investigations that will inform the design and construction of the works.
Initial geotechnical surveys are being undertaken within the seabed footprint footprint and on the landside of Terminals 2 and 3.
Geotechnical surveys consist of drilling and seabed sampling to determine the amount of sediment on the seabed and the various layers of geology. This information is invaluable for the design and construction phase and informs the upcoming works.
This information is crucial to understanding the underlying geological conditions for design and construction.
