Partnering with Open House Hobart, TasPorts was excited to share with the Tasmanian community the operations and history of the Port of Hobart, providing an insight into daily operations that keep Tasmania connected to the world.
Held over two weekends, the local Hobart community were welcomed aboard the Peppermint Bay II ferry as we toured TasPorts facilities at the capital’s ports.
Each tour was hosted by The Gents, a creative Tasmanian duo who have been worked together since 2002.
The Gents provided insights and stories on the history of the port, including Sullivans Cove, the Macquarie Wharves and Domain Slip, before each tour travelled north to see the $8 million fire system upgrade works at Selfs Point.
With tours across both weekends sold out, TasPorts donated $3,500 to The Maritime Museum of Tasmania, helping the Museum work in preserving and promoting Tasmania’s maritime history and stories.
