We're excited to share news of our partnership with AMC Search for the upcoming inaugural International Conference on Maritime Autonomy and Remote Navigation (ICMAR Nav). This important event is scheduled from November 27th to 30th, 2023, at the Australian Maritime College in Launceston, Tasmania, and TasPorts is proudly onboard as a bronze sponsor.

ICMAR Nav, Driving Forward Autonomy in the Maritime Industry, aims to foster vibrant discussions on the breakthroughs, challenges, and the overall advancement of autonomy within the maritime sector.

TasPorts actively engages in a number of initiatives and investments related to Maritime Autonomy and Remote Navigation:

  1. Investment in Port Infrastructure: TasPorts recognises the importance of modern and technologically advanced port infrastructure. Investing in developing and enhancing port facilities at key locations in Tasmania, including Devonport, Hobart, Bell Bay, and Burnie, TasPorts aims to increase the capacity and capability of these ports to support the growth of the maritime industry.
  2. Supporting Research and Development: TasPorts welcomes collaboration with research institutions, like the Australian Maritime College, to promote research and development in maritime autonomy and encourage knowledge sharing and innovation in the field. Through the TasPorts Charles Black Scholarship, TasPorts supports the next generation of Maritime Engineers.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: TasPorts works closely with relevant regulatory bodies and authorities to ensure its port facilities and operations align with evolving regulations and standards. In future, this may involve adhering to safety protocols and compliance measures for autonomous vessels and systems.
  4. Facilitating Industry Dialogue: TasPorts plays a role in facilitating discussions and dialogue within the maritime industry regarding the adoption and integration of autonomous and remote navigation technologies through our continued support of seminars, workshops, and forums to engage stakeholders and share insights.

TasPorts' support of the ICMAR Nav conference signifies its commitment to embracing technological advancements and ensuring that Tasmania's ports are well-prepared to accommodate the changing landscape of the maritime industry.
