TasPorts has officially been recognised as a Work180 Endorsed Employer, joining a select group of organisations globally that have demonstrated a verified commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

TasPorts’ Group Executive People and Culture, Julie Garth, said Work180 is a trusted global platform used by jobseekers to identify employers who meet high standards for inclusive policies and practices.

“The endorsement process to gain Work180 certification is rigorous,” she said.

“They assess everything from flexible work arrangements and parental leave to leadership, pay transparency and inclusive recruitment practices.”

TasPorts’ endorsement reflects years of sustained effort to embed inclusive practices across our business. It recognises that our diversity and inclusion strategy is something our employees experience every day.

“This recognition validates the culture we’ve built and the progress we’ve made,” said Ms Garth. “It also holds us accountable to continue improving our workplace, because inclusive cultures are an ongoing commitment.”

The maritime sector globally remains one of the most male-dominated industries, with women representing only 2% of the global marine-based workforce and 20% of shore-based roles. At TasPorts, approximately 22% of the workforce are female.

“We’re committed to continuing to improve this journey,” said Ms Garth. “By being transparent about our standards and values, we’re showing that maritime can be a future-focused, inclusive career choice for everyone.”

As part of its endorsement, TasPorts will maintain compliance with Work180’s evolving benchmarks and continue developing initiatives to support gender equity and inclusive leadership across all areas of the business.
