Update

  • Harbour Master Instruction 22-66 Port of Devonport – Suspension of Port Movements remains in force.
  • The instruction is being reviewed twice daily with advice provided directly to TasPorts and port users.
  • The latest Harbour Master update provided at 8am this morning anticipates that suspension of commercial shipping will remain in force until Monday am (17 October 2022).
  • Click here to view the update, which also provides an overview of port and environmental conditions.
  • This morning the trigger point for TasPorts vessels to be able to return to the water was reached and so personnel immediately entered the Port to commence the assessment and recovery effort.
  • TasPorts crews in the Port of Devonport have already recovered a significant amount of visible debris including a number of large logs and the recovery effort is progressing as planned.
  • The tug vessel EDI, which is fitted for seabed sweeping, is currently working in the channel to confirm depths and identify any blockages. It will also survey berths 1 East and 2 East in readiness for TT Line and SeaRoad to resume shipping activity.
  • All other ports remain open to shipping noting increased river flows at the port of Bell Bay are being monitored closely and have resulted in some changes to shipping windows.
  • We will continue to communicate directly with commercial shipping customers and to monitor the situation.
