TasPorts welcomes the Australian Navy

Three Royal Australian Navy ships including HMAS Adelaide, the largest ship in the RAN fleet, visited Hobart recently.

Some 900 sailors from three Navy ships – HMAS Adelaide, HMAS Brisbane and HMAS Sydney – visited Hobart in May to enjoy some rest and recreation after weeks at sea on official maritime duty.

The biggest in the Australian Navy fleet, the HMAS Adelaide is more than 230 metres long and weighs some 27,000 tonnes.

It was HMAS Sydney's first-ever visit to Hobart.

While in Hobart the Navy played host to a number of visits including school groups and Defence Force Cadets.

The ships departed on Tuesday 16 May.
