World Oceans Day is celebrated on 8 June each year to raise awareness and encourage the protection of our oceans.

The ocean is the Earth's largest ecosystem, regulating the climate, and providing livelihoods for billions. The theme for this year's World Ocean Day is Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean. As a collective, we need to conserve our wonderful marine resources for future generations.

TasPorts is dedicated to reducing our impact on the environment, ensuring high standards are in place to protect our local marine environment. We've also developed safeguards and mitigation measures to protect the marine environments in which we operate.

Our teams continually look at ways we can reduce waste, improve recycling at our sites and develop initiatives to raise awareness of marine-based pollution.

Our teams across Tasmania are encouraged to take this commitment one step further by adopting the 'Take 3 for the Sea' initiative when out on site. If employees see rubbish at or around the sites we operate, they're encouraged to 'Take 3 for the Sea'. Through this, we're playing our small part to help remove 8 million pieces of rubbish from our environment.

We only have one Earth, let's take care of it.
