The Award recognises Mures Tasmania’s outstanding contribution to Tasmania’s seafood industry and the vibrancy of Hobart’s waterfront.

TasPorts Group Executive, Commercial and Trade, Phil Hoggett, said TasPorts was proud to sponsor Seafood Industry Tasmania's biennial Awards and extend its support for Tasmania’s seafood producers, businesses and communities.

“TasPorts has worked alongside Mures for generations and has witnessed its strong story of growth along Hobart’s waterfront.

“We warmly congratulate the Mure family and the entire Mures Tasmania team on this well-deserved award,” Mr Hoggett said.

It was a big night for Mures, with Mures Upper Deck winning the Gotta Love Tassie Seafood Restaurant Award and Jock Mure taking home the Young Achiever Award.

Mures Tasmania Managing Directors Will & Judy Mure said the accolades were a tribute to the team’s dedication and passion.

“We’re incredibly proud to receive this award, which recognises the hard work and commitment of our entire team.

“Our connection to the waterfront runs deep, and we’re grateful to TasPorts and the broader community for their ongoing support as we continue to champion Tasmania’s fresh seafood story.”

A Shared History on the Waterfront

Mures has long been part of Hobart’s maritime story, working alongside the port since the days of the Marine Board of Hobart and continuing today with TasPorts. Over the decades, the Mure family has grown with the harbour – from operating fishing vessels to pioneering aquaculture, and opening Hobart’s first seafood restaurants, which has grown to become one of the state’s most recognised hospitality destinations.

Founded by George and Jill Mure in 1973, the initial family business in Battery Point was built on a deep connection to the sea and a passion for showcasing Tasmania’s premium seafood. Mures’ “hook-to-plate” philosophy set new standards in quality and sustainability, ensuring that the fish caught by its vessels was served fresh in its restaurants.

From its early beginnings, Mures has expanded to include fishing, processing, wholesale, education programs, and a hospitality offering that attracts locals and visitors alike to the Hobart waterfront.

Today, under the leadership of the second and third generations of the Mure family, Mures Tasmania continues to combine tradition with innovation. Their venues at Victoria Dock remain at the heart of Hobart’s dining scene, while their fishing fleet, wholesale operations, and sustainability programs highlight their broader impact across the seafood supply chain.
