Cruise calls to Tasmania suspended until 30 June 2020

TasPorts Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Donald said the company has enacted measures in response.

“As part of its role in Tasmania, TasPorts is working closely with impacted cruise lines and industry stakeholders to facilitate and enable safe diversions to other ports,” he said.

“Tasmania’s 2019-2020 peak cruise season was expected to finish in early April, however as of tomorrow, there will be no cruise movements at Tasmanian ports until 30 June 2020.

“A small expedition sized cruise vessel will be calling to the Port of Hobart later today, to enable it to refuel and resupply provisions for passengers, before the vessel is diverted to another Australian port. While in Hobart, no passengers will be disembarking the vessel,” he said.

TasPorts has implemented additional measures at Tasmania’s ports to respond to COVID-19 and will continue to work with relevant government agencies, including Department of Health and Australian Border Protection to ensure the most up to date information is available and measures are in place.
