Why are we delivering works at Berth 4?
TasPorts is delivering essential wharf remediation works to incrementally strengthen the ageing wharf structure. These works are necessary to ensure the long-term resilience and efficiency of port operations.
What will the works involve?
Three remediation techniques will be used, including:
- Ground improvement works behind the concrete wharf to further strengthen the entire quay wall and wharf structure at Berth 4.
- Scour protection of wharf infrastructure to be installed below the water surface and at the toe of the quay wall.
- Installation of high-capacity grouted steel micro-piles through the existing wharf structure.
Who is delivering the design and construction works?
TasPorts has awarded a local construction company BridgePro Engineering, alongside specialist sub-contractor Wagstaff, a contract to deliver a 16-month program of remediation works at Berth 4.
How long will the infrastructure works take?
The remediation works will be delivered across a 16-month program from April 2026.
When will the project be completed?
The project is on track for practical completion in June 2027.
