Safety starts at the waterfront

Hobart's waterfront is coming alive, and TasPorts is excited to support a summer full of events. As the crowds gather to enjoy the festivities, it's important to remember safety first.

The Hobart waterfront is a shared space during the event season, with pedestrians and cyclists sharing the same space. To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, it's crucial for pedestrians to be aware of their surroundings.

TasPorts has installed a number of lifebuoys and ladders across the waterfront with user instructions on the front of each capsule. In the event of an emergency, dial 000 immediately.

Here are some tips on how you and your loved ones can safely enjoy festivities along the Port of Hobart over the holidays:

  • Always keep a safe distance from the water's edge.
  • Don't climb on or near any equipment or structures.
  • Make sure children are supervised at all times.
  • Keep your eyes on the view and not on your phone.
  • Stay on the designated paths and pedestrian crossings.
  • Watch for any traffic.
  • Watch for uneven surfaces and slippery conditions.

By following these guidelines, you can play your part in creating a safe and enjoyable summer on Hobart's waterfront.
