TasPorts has opened applications for its 2026 Industry Support Program, offering $100,000 in funding for industry led initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to Tasmanian industries.

TasPorts CEO Anthony Donald said the program was specifically designed to address challenges and gaps identified through industry consultation by funding initiatives in education, training, recognition, research and development.

“TasPorts is the custodian of Tasmania’s multi-port network, and we take our responsibility to support Tasmania's industries and our customers seriously,” Mr Donald said.

“Our teams work closely with organisations that share our objectives to invest in education, reduce environmental impacts, and pursue economic growth opportunities.”

Now in its second year, the program aims to help future-proof Tasmania’s industries, providing them with additional access to resources and exposure, helping them to unlock and attract skilled labour and build a pipeline for new entrants to enter the industry.

Vanessa Skipworth from the Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council said its 2025 partnership with TasPorts supporting an eight-week course to provide meaningful career opportunities for underrepresented job seekers.

“Participants gained nationally recognised certifications along with the confidence and industry knowledge needed for sustainable careers in Tasmania’s transport, mining and energy sectors,” Ms Skipworth said.

TasPorts is actively involved with more than thirty industry associations and working groups, and our goal is to help these bodies address challenges and overcome trade barriers, contributing to the success of their sectors and the well-being of the broader Tasmanian community.

In 2026, TasPorts is inviting proposals for industry projects and partnerships that meet one or more of the following criteria.
•    Promote growth or foster trade by addressing barriers and challenges
•    Align with TasPorts’ organisational values
•    Demonstrate strong industry focus
•    Provide education, training, research and/or development support
•    Engage industry and customers with harbour and/or port operations.

Applications close on Friday 20 March 2026 and can be submitted online via Tasports’ Industry Support Program’s page.
