Congratulations to the successful recipients of the latest TasPorts Community Grant Program.

TasPorts is committed to operating in a socially responsible manner to support sustainable economic and social growth for Tasmania. We believe that to create strong and vibrant communities, we need to invest in a broad range of community programs. 

Since its launch in 2022, the TasPorts Community Grant Program has invested $300,000 to foster positive change and community growth across Tasmania. This support highlights TasPorts commitment to the program which empowers organisations to create meaningful impact to the communities in and around our port areas and right across the state.

Celebrating its seventh funding round, the program awarded just under $50,000 to 14 diverse applicants, along with $8,000 of in-kind support. The funding has supported important community outreach projects, funded marine safety equipment, advanced environmental conservation and education efforts within port areas, and facilitated cherished local events.

Notably the latest round of the TasPorts Community Grant Program received 39 applications. Highlighting its importance as a source of funding for local and regional community engagement projects.

Successful recipients include:

  • Australasian Seabird Group (BirdLife Australia) – Community conservation of threatened species.

  • Australian Institute of Architects, Tasmanian Chapter – Open House Hobart 2024

  • Australian Maritime College – Raising marine safety awareness among regional and indigenous school students of Tasmania

  • East Devonport Neighbourhood House – LOVEastDevonport

  • Flinders Island Show – 89th Flinders Island Annual Show- Wharfage Fees

  • Friends of Maatsuyker Island – Maatsuyker Light station restoration and Wooden Boat Festival community engagement

  • Great Southern Reef Foundation – White Rock Educational Resource Kit - Marine Conservation for Tasmanian Schools

  • Living Boat Trust – Supporting the Living Boat Trust’s on-the-water program for primary school children

  • Making Waves Foundation – Hobart Campaign

  • Marine Rescue Ulverstone – Safety equipment for new rescue vessel

  • Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania – Replacement and servicing of equipment on the ML Egeria

  • North East Bioregional Network – North East Tasmania School Shorebird Education Project

  • Port Sorell Surf Life Saving Club – Purchase of marine marker buoys for use in community and surf lifesaving events

  • The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania – Australian Open & Youth Match Racing Championship Oct 2024

Applications for the next round of funding will open on 1 February 2025.
