Passengers on board Grand Princess were met by glorious autumn weather when they arrived in Hobart on the vessels’ first trip to the State.
The captain and crew were also warmly welcomed by TasPorts Cruise Manager, Brendan Cruise who led the long-held maritime tradition of the port plaque exchange.
The plaque formally recognises the vessel’s maiden voyage.
Each plaque is made from reclaimed Huon Pine and has its own unique characteristics making it rare and precious representation of the inaugural visit to Tasmania.
Tasmania has an outstanding reputation as a cruise destination and is pleased to welcome newcomers and repeat visitors to our shores.
This season will see around 150 visits across Tasmanian ports with the last cruise ship expected in late April.
TasPorts recognises the value of cruise to the visitor economy including regional communities right across the State.
As Tasmania’s Port Authority, TasPorts is proud to continue playing a key role in facilitating domestic and international cruise vessel visits across the State.
