TasPorts continues to work closely with emergency services following a minor fuel spill at Macquarie Wharf in Hobart on Sunday. The incident was swiftly and safely resolved, with no impact to shipping operations or the environment.
TasPorts CEO Anthony Donald praised the coordinated response, saying, “TasPorts supported the Tasmanian Fire Service to ensure the area was quickly made safe. An exclusion zone was established as a precaution, and the spill was contained without incident.”
The spill involved less than 200 litres of aviation fuel leaking from an ISO tank container that was awaiting transfer. The exclusion zone was set up on the advice of the Tasmanian Fire Service and lifted once the area was secured.
“We’re committed to working with authorities to ensure the safety of the community and our operations,” Mr Donald said.
TasPorts extends its thanks to emergency responders and the public for their cooperation during the incident.
