TasPorts is proud to welcome Ciara Turner as the latest participant in its Intern Director Program, an initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of governance leaders and build a strong pipeline of board-ready talent for Tasmania.

TasPorts’ Interim Chair Amara Doyle said the Intern Director Program provides emerging leaders with direct exposure to boardroom decision-making, offering participants practical governance experience and valuable insights into the operations of a State-owned company.

“The program reflects TasPorts’ commitment to strengthening the state’s leadership capacity and ensuring diverse, capable voices help shape the future of Tasmania’s ports and maritime infrastructure,” she said.

Ciara brings with her deep experience across Tasmania’s energy sector, having held strategic, commercial and innovation-focused roles at a number of organisations including Hydro Tasmania, TasNetworks, Aurora Energy and GSD Advisors.

“Ciara is a proven leader in complex project delivery and stakeholder engagement, with a strong track record in product development, commercial modelling and strategic planning,” Ms Doyle said.

“As a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Ciara complements her professional credentials with strong governance capability, making her an ideal fit for the Intern Director Program.”

“Strong governance starts with strong people, and this program is about giving emerging leaders the platform and experience they need to step into board roles with confidence. We are thrilled to welcome Ciara to the program.”

Ciara said she was looking forward to contributing to TasPorts’ work and learning from experienced directors.

“It is such a unique opportunity to develop as an aspiring director, and I feel very grateful to TasPorts for supporting this program.”

“The program provides a unique perspective on the responsibilities and challenges of board leadership. These sorts of initiatives set TasPorts apart in showing commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.”

“I'm excited to be able to learn from the TasPorts Board and Management, and to contribute to an organisation that plays such a critical role in Tasmania’s economic future,” Ms Turner said.

The Intern Director Program is one of several initiatives TasPorts is delivering to support leadership development, improve diversity in governance and ensure Tasmania’s ports system is prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
